ESL Academic Proofreading is managed by Clare Robinson, proofreader and educator. You can find her CV here.
I started proofreading as an evolution of my work as an academic writing tutor. For the past five years, I’ve worked at a UK university, supporting the language and research skills of international postgraduate students. Three years ago, I began proofreading for former students and – largely through their recommendations – built up the business you see today.
I’m a fluent French speaker and completed an MA in French literature, which has given me a lot of empathy for those writing in a second language. ESL Academic Proofreading is based on my love of helping students express their ideas without barriers. I see how hard students work and what they have to offer their field, and I set myself very high standards for this reason. I proofread all work personally, and my clients’ satisfaction is the basis of what I do.
